Gardening 2023
This year I was too focused on rock climbing to do much gardening. Staying true to the name of this blog, for me it’s mostly about the rocks. That said, it was my first year growing pumpkins and mammoth sunflowers which were cool to grow, and I also did a compost experiment which yielded striking results. I can’t remember the bad compost (maybe Cowlitz County Mushroom?), but Cedar Grove is what I’ll be using from now on. This was also my last year growing green beans — I just don’t like eating them that much!
Getting everything ready!
Putting the home tomatoes in the ground! There was an early heat wave so I gave them a shade cover.
Ernie the cat (RIP) and Ilana enjoying the beautiful Tierra garden
Grateful to have deer-proofed the home garden! Tomatoes loving the heat of summer.
Summer swims and a "watermelon" tomato! Interesting variety 🤓
Pumpkins and sunflowers — growing things is magic! 🔮
The final harvest! Until next year!
